In this post I want to share the most powerful quotes on self love and self-esteem that I’ve found in the past decade.
Because some things may be equally essential but nothing is more important than a healthy sense of self-esteem and loving yourself.
Why?
In my experience, three of the most important reasons are:
1. Life becomes simpler and lighter.
When you love yourself more then things simply become lighter and easier.
You won’t overthink and make as many mountains out of molehills (or out of plain air) as you used to when you had a lack of self esteem. Or beat yourself up or drag yourself down over mistakes or temporary setbacks.
2. You’ll have more inner stability and self-sabotage less.
When your opinion of yourself goes up then you’ll stop trying to get so much validation and attention from other people.
You become less needy and find an inner stability and strength even when your world might be negative or uncertain at times.
The increasing level of self-esteem and self worth also makes you feel more deserving of good things in life and so you’ll self-sabotage less and go after what you deep down want with more motivation and focus than ever before.
3. You’ll be happier.
The main reason why value my self-esteem so highly, why I write about this topic so often and have created a whole 12-week course around it is simply because it has made my own life so much happier and more fun.
But instead of sharing my own thoughts and experiences like I usually do I’d like to take a different approach today.
I’d like to share 101 of the most inspiring, thought provoking and uplifting thoughts from the past 2400 years on getting to know yourself, going from low self-esteem to high self-esteem and finding a self love.
Bonus: Download a free step-by-step checklist that will show you how to improve your self-esteem and keep it stable (it’s easy to save as a PDF or print out for whenever you need it during your day or week).

Good one!
Great compilation of quotes!
I really like 35: “There are days I drop words of comfort on myself like falling leaves and remember that it is enough to be taken care of by myself.”
The imagery in this one really evokes a warm, tender feeling. The way in which society paints romantic love makes it seem like a superior or more beautiful form of love. Quotes like this reframe self-love in a more appealing light.
Start doing things you love
And love will find you – Unknown
Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny – unknown
I really enjoyed the 3 points that you made as to why self-esteem and self-worth are so vital in life. What a great compilation of quotes!
Thanks for sharing Henrik!
“Self-pity gets you nowhere. One must have the adventurous daring to accept one… world making the most of one’s best.”
– Harry Emerson Fosdick”
this is really true. Often failures make one dejected and it drives him to dejection and depression. This quote highlights the need to transcend and go flying like a migratory bird, leaving behind all the past and heading towards an unknown future with zest and confidence. Abraham in the Book of Genesis did the same. Great quote for all of us, esp. for a person like me, who broods over failures for a pretty long time and avoids people and situations.
