Each week people ask me what the best personal development courses and products are and what I use in my own life.
And a lot of people also email me and want to know how I have built this popular blog and what I use to do that.
So I have decided to put together this list of the very most helpful tools.
Note: Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means I’ll earn a commission if you purchase that particular tool or product. If you do, I thank you for supporting me and this site.
I did it with one of the most popular workout programs right now, Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training for Fatloss.
It helped me to lose 26 pounds in 4 months, to become stronger and double my energy. It may even have helped me look a little bit younger.
How do you achieve the success of your dreams? For real?
Well, way back in the early 1900s a man named Napoleon Hill dedicated about 20 years of his life to figuring this out by studying and interviewing 500 of the most successful people at the time. People like Edison, Ford and Andrew Carnegie. The result was a book called Think and Grow Rich. A book that went on to sell over 20 million copies. A book that greatly influenced the whole field of personal development as we know it today.
However, in the book there is a secret. The secret to success. But Hill never explicitly tells us exactly what that secret is.
Fortunately, a guy named Brian Kim came along and wrote a book about just that secret and describes it very clearly as a step-by-step plan.
Other ones are focused on such things as overcoming anxiety or improving relationships, confidence and health.
I have been using these recordings several times a week since December 2008. I have experienced such benefits such as increased presence and calmness, being able to get out of negative feelings and headspaces quickly and increased focus and effectiveness.
One common question people email me about is how to manage school. They want to know how to get excellent grades, manage stress and procrastination and find more time for other things than just studying.
I have some answers for how to handle stress better and for becoming more productive in general. But as for becoming a more effective student that gets better grades and have smarter study habits I like to refer to other people.
One such person that I have referred many students to over the past few years is Scott Young.
Blogging & Lifestyle Business Resources
I have used WordPress to publish this blog since I started it in 2006. And I still love it. WordPress is free and easy to customize with a ton of free – and some premium – plugins.
Bluehost is one of the most popular ones and is recommended by WordPress themselves and top bloggers like Pat Flynn (Smart Passive Income) and Derek Halpern (Social Triggers).
Plus, it is very easy to use with 1-click automatic WordPress installation so you can get start with writing and creating your own blog within minutes.
For the past 5 years I have used the Thesis Theme for my blog. Here are the most important benefits I have gotten out of making the switch to Thesis:
- The website loads faster (very important for rankings in Google and to make new readers stick around).
- Thesis takes care of search engine optimization without me having to do anything.
- Lovely typography that makes my articles easy to read.
- Responsive design right out of the box so the website looks great no matter if someone reads it on a computer, tablet or smart phone.
- It has made my website simpler, more beautiful and more professional looking (and that has translated in to more subscribers and income).
The difficult thing is to gain a big audience. But that is what will allow you to work with what you are passionate about, it could help you to make a living online and to spread your cause across the world and change it for the better.
Corbett Barr has helped several people launch blogs that now attract from 10,000+ to 100,000+ visitors every month. He is an advisor of top bloggers like Leo Babauta of zenhabits and the crew of Man vs. Debt.
He has also created a course called How to Start a Blog That Matters. It is my favorite course for anyone who is a beginner when it comes to blogging.
Over 3000 people have joined it so far.
