Thank you Henrik. I love those quotes. Worrying about the future feels to me like it’s based on negative thought patterns and belief systems all tangled in fear from the past. As we can see these knotted thoughts for what they are, they loosen and the fear scenario can relax. As we integrate into our healthy adult self, we know no matter what comes our way; we can handle and take care of ourselves.

These five thoughts can help us know we are caught in our habitual tape looping.

Hi Henrik

I am relatively new to your blog, but really wanted to comment today as I thought your post on worry was excellent. I especially like the saying “Worry is like a rocking chair–it gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.” Not worrying is often easier said than done, but your post has some really helpful quotations and thoughts to help people stop. Another useful habit to cultivate, which is similar to your 'zoom out' point, is to disassociate yourself from the situation to give yourself some time to stand back and get things in perspective.

Today is national stress day in the UK and I've tweeted your post as it's so timely to help people cope with stress.

All the best

What a brilliant post, Henrik.

I love your quote selection. Thanks!
Among them I like:
“If you treat every situation as a life and death matter, you’ll die a lot of times.” Dean Smith
“If you want to test your memory, try to recall what you were worrying about one year ago today.” E. Joseph Cossman
“If you ask what the single most important key to longevity is, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn’t ask me, I’d still have to say it.” George F. Burns

Mark Foo: I like your comment, too. Nice thought.

Hi there

Once again a good article by Henrik. Worry is basically a fear of something. Read my article http://proenrichment.com/2009/10/26/overcome-your-fearproenrichment-method/

Here is another quote for your great collection, though I'm not sure who said it: "Worrying is like praying for things you don't want."

Peace,
Dave
