Here’s a really interesting video.
Back in the eighties journalist Bill Moyers did a series of 6 one-hour shows where he interviewed Joseph Campbell on myths through pretty much all of human history.
Campbell was known as one of the foremost experts in the world on the subject and had written such books as the The Hero with a Thousand Faces. The series became something of a classic and I think you will find it very interesting and entertaining.
This is the first part and I just love the intro where Campbell does a short introduction to images of astronauts jumping on the moon, Mother Theresa, Picasso and Amelia Earheart.
I especially like how Campbell ends it with wisdom I did not understand the first time I saw the video but I think I´m starting to understand now:
And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god.
And where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves.
Where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence.
And where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world.

And: Does anyone know the name of the music played during the intro (when the astronauts are bouncing around on the moon)?
