Here’s a video that became quite popular on Digg a few months ago. And since I´m interested in social conditioning and the effects it has on us I´d like to share the video.

It’s remarkable how they can change an image. And how images can affect the self-image of ourselves and of others.

The film is 74 seconds long and was made by The Dove Self-Esteem Fund. It is a part of the Campaign for Real Beauty. If you´re a RSS-subscriber who can´t see the embedded video, click here to watch it.

I loved that video Henrik, only because it made me aware of how much make-up and lighting and a great photographer can do for any of us ! I can be beautiful with just a little work ! So, I’m just a diamond in the rough without my make-up on, and a daimond nonetheless…

Have a great Friday !

self esteem and beauty. how did we ever get fooled into thinking that if you are not beautiful you are not worthy? how did we ever get fooled into thinking beauty is only on the outside?

Long story short, before watching that video I had about 20 wallpapers spread about 6 desktops, each with 3 or 4 rotating. They were all pictures of beautiful women I’d seen in movies, etc. Watching the video really made me think about how distorted my own vision was. I’d always wind up comparing people I see in real life to those pictures of movie stars. I deleted all of those pictures and added pictures of myself with girl friends.

If we think a little deeper, the skin itself is a makeup over flesh, bones, puss, blood, worms, dead cells etc.

I know it sounds ugly. But we must really give this a thought to see the real and not be tempted by illusions.
