One of the best documentary-series I have seen

by Henrik Edberg. Print Print

This one of those movies (well, series of movies) that I found slightly mind-blowing when I first saw it.

In short and in the words of it´s creator, the very gifted Adam Curtis it concerns: “How those in power have used Freud’s theories to try and control the dangerous crowd in an age of mass democracy.”

It´s very interesting stuff for anyone interested in personal development. Or anyone who wants to live a life where they are less controlled by outside forces. Just as Robert Cialdini´s must-read book “Influence” it explains the various ways companies and people in power use to try to control people. And as Cialidini´s book it´s presented in a very lucid and accessible way.

The video is 58 minutes long and the first in a four part tv-series. You can watch it at GoogleVideo. There you´ll also find the other three parts in the right frame of your browser.

Hi,

I came upon your blog when the “..10 mistakes in a conversation?” post was dugg and I’ve really enjoyed it. Thanks a lot for linking to this documentary…it’s fascinating. I told several friends about the adding an egg to Betty Crocker Cake Mix story in episode 2 , and it’s amazing how interested people immediately become. Thanks again. I’ll be reading.
