A very simple way to feel relaxed for 24 hours

Feeling relaxed.

We may play golf, workout, drink, buy stuff or eat to reach that state. The state where we seem to flow through reality focused on the now, with worries out of our minds for the moment. It’s a wonderful and productive emotional state.

One effective way to relax is a free hypnosis-mp3 called “Double Induction”. It’s 37 minutes of soothing beach-sounds and ambient music in the background by Denver Clay. Two guys who call themselves Hypnotica and Steve Piccus talk into your ears using bianural microphones. Hypnotica speaks in to your left ear while Steve talks into your right ear.

At first it’s confusing. Which of these guys should I listen to? You strain to try and follow along with the mini-stories and words that seems be stringed together with dream-logic.

After a while you give up and just lie there. You let the words and music wash over you. You get a bit sleepy. The combination of Steve’s deep voice and Hypnotica’s higher, almost nervous pitch is fascinating. While listening you might experience such things as being unable to lift your arms and seeing bolts of white light moving across the inside of your eye-lids. When you are done listening don’t be surprised if it seems like only 15 minutes have gone by and you can’t remember much of what you heard.

How to listen
Use headphones while listening to shut out the outside world and hear every detail of the recording.

After a few months of experimenting I’ve found that for the best time to listen to this mp3 and other various hypnotic mp3s is just before going to bed. My mind is tired and doesn’t start to wander too easily. Try different times during the day to find when you are the most receptive.

It´s important that you don´t fall asleep while listening. If you fall asleep easily, consider listening with closed eyes while sitting in a chair or somewhere where you know you won’t dose off. Since I don’t dose off easily I prefer to listen with closed eyes in my bed.

I usually have just one small light on in the room. It makes it easier to listen without too much outside stimuli.

And, don’t forget to unplug the phone, shut of your instant messenger and tell everyone in the house to not disturb you for the next 45 minutes. It can be a bit frustrating to be interrupted in the middle of listening.

You might have to listen to the recording a couple of times to really get an effect. The first time you listen you’ll probably try to follow along with the words. The second and third time you learn to just let the voices, music and words flow over you. Every time you listen it also gets easier not let your mind wander.

The recording will put you in what´s called a trance but what I would describe as a long daydream. So, don’t listen to it in your car, while operating heavy machinery or in some similar situation. Just listen when you are alone and can sit/lie back and relax.

By now I’ve probably gone through 40-50 books, audiotapes and vhs/dvd-tapes on personal development. “Double Induction” is one of the most powerful and mind-altering products so far. The effect is different because it’s not a product on an intellectual level. It doesn’t make you think “ooh, this will make me more productive”.

Frankly, apart from bits and pieces I never remember exactly what’s going on while I listen. But whatever they are saying to my mind it has a remarkable effect on how I feel.

I haven’t found anything that puts me into a deeper and more long-lasting state of relaxation than “Double Induction”. It’s also interesting that you’re not easily rattled out of that relaxed state. I doesn´t matter what negative or stressful things happen during the day, the mood remains calm. That effect usually lasts for about 24 hours and then wears off.

But while it lasts it can be very useful.

I suggest that you download the free mp3 (13 mb in size) from the downloads section of Hypnotica’s website. And no, I don’t get any money, hugs or other compensation when you do that. :)

I’ll return to Hypnotica later. And most likely to hypnosis-products from other people too.

I haven’t felt this relaxed since a meditation class about ten years ago. This was amazing. Time to start studying Binaural recordings :)

Very cool. I´m glad it really worked for you too. This mp3 is surprisingly effective.

Very effective, thanks for the heads up.

I’m starting to look around for other sources for similar free relaxation mp3s, so if you happen to know any others, a follow-up post would be appreciated.

Well, I´ve tried Creative Wonderment that´s also on Hypnotica´s download page mentioned in the article. I brightens my mood and relaxes me a bit.

I´ve also tried the White Light Meditation from that page, but the only effect was that during the meditation I couldn´t lift my arms.

I also bought the Yoga Nidra-mp3 he sells for 8 bucks on the website but haven´t gotten around to testing it yet.

From what I have read the british hypnotist Paul McKenna (you might have seen him on his tv-show) has some effective cds on things like increasing confidence, stop smoking etc. I haven´t tried them myself but you could check out amazon or your local library and see if you find anything by him.
I´ll take you suggestion, and write a new post when I find something really good.

That MP3 is an interesting concept, but tragically, I’m a little ADD so I can follow both voices easily and the deep voice just totally took me out of it because I started laughing like a loon. I don’t want to use the word creepy…but I guess I just did. Ah well, I guess the laugh did me good, too.

    Are you into PickUp too?

I use that Paul Mckenna one and after about a week of using it, because you know how the cd is going to play it gets boring and less effective after each time you listen to it. However, the first time is fucking amazing. I guess it’ll be the same for this mp3 file; you’ll love for the first week and won’t seem to be able to concentrate during the rest. Anyone agree?

Sad to say that the links to Hypnotica don’t work. I don’t know if the site is down temporary or for ever.

Another way to feel relaxed is to practice Auto circadian meditation. Have you ever tried auto circadian meditation ? If not then you can. This is another type of meditation with a little different benefits.

Auto circadian meditation helps the natural body clock and biorhythms combination. This type of meditation helps us to control our bodies. It helps to control the main engine that runs us. It helps us to improve our health and well-being. It reduces the sleep needed everyday. This is important as we spend lots of time during our life sleeping, reducing it will give us more time. But this types of meditation helps you to do so without affecting your health.

You may want to try it. Try http://www.meditationhome.com for more information.

I have a free relaxation recording - 15 minutes - on my site:

    http://hypno.co.nz/blogs/index.php/2008/02/25/healthy_lifestyle_therapeutic_relaxation/

It’s more traditional than the one you describe above but it teaches you a nice simple practice that you can use to regain some of the relaxation whenever you need it in everyday life.

you must advise readers to make their mind free if they want to relax themselves.

concerning the Double Induction mp3: Has anybody ever thought of side effects my be caused by listening to such media? Can there be unconscious programming you might don’t like? …

I am a little concerned about trying this out. Can somebody convince me that it is not dangerous?
